Pancreas Cancer Web

My Mom, Joan G. Dupuis, age 62 was diagnosed April 21, 1999. That was two days after we laid to rest her Mom (my grandmother). Grandma lived to be 97 with no major health problems. Mom has elected for no treatment. She is stage 4 w/mets to lynph nodes, arteries, spleen, and liver. She has had 5FU with radiation for pain management only. This has apparently been sucsessful. At the time of diagnosis she was given 6 to 9 months. We are now at 5 1/2 months. Mom is still living at home. Gardening, cleaning, playing bridge, etc. My stepdad died two years ago in May due to asbestis related lung cancer. He was given chemo that shut his digestive system down in 3 months. This is why Mom isn't trying to be "cured" or even extend her life. We are concentrating on quality.I am the middle daughter in a family of three girls. I am 38 years old. I live about 50 miles from Mom.
