DAD PASSED AWAY 2 weeks ago
My dad (Willard) just passed away June 28th 2005 from his 2 1/2 year battle
with pancreatic cancer. He was 69 years old. My grandmother (92), my dad's
mother was his caregiver all the way until the end. We only had Hospice for
one day. It's a blessing at times he is no longer suffering and he is in a
much better place. My dad was very lucky that his doctor's had found his
cancer very early. This past April, was two years on his Whipple surgery.
He also had a couple of surgeries for abscesses found on liver. The cancer
eventually spread to his liver. My dad was a fighter all the way to the end.
He also had a feeding pump for 1 1/2 years. For 2 years my dad had any/every
type of experimental chemo-drug. I think the worst part for my dad was the
side effects. He had so much diarrhea, itchy skin, and nausea. He probably
experienced a lot of pain. But, he never complained of it. He took his
first pain medicine the day before he passed away. My dad was angry that he
had cancer. One thing that I think is very important is being involved with
their doctors and their appointments and just spending as much time with them
as possible. My dad had a great family and friends that loved and cared for
him. I just had to let some of this off my chest. I wear my pancreatic
bracelet everyday in remembrance of my dad. I love and miss you dad!! Your
daughter Dana
