My Mom has Pancreatic Cancer. Her name is Vickie. She was dx in 4/97. She had
to have emergancy whipple surgery the same week. Her Tumor was the size of a
grapefruit. 12 lymph nodes where removed durning the whipple and tested. 6
out of 12 where positive for cancer. After healing from the whipple she went
onto have Radiation and the Chemo 5fu.5/98 Cat scan showed a spot of cancer
on her liver. 2 weeks later she was in surgery again having 1/4 of her liver
removed. After surgery the Doctor's wanted her to do 1 year of Chemo. She
said NO WAY!!! 1/99 8 month's after liver surgery here CA-19-9 test came back
the number was 3900... The Doctor did a cat scan right away. Only to find out
that the cancer had returned and it was in 2 lymph nodes in her back behind
the abdominal wall. She is currently on the Chemo called Gemzar. May 3rd 1999
we will have her Ca-19-9 test results to see if the Gemzar is helping her...
My Mom will be 51 July 7th 1999.
