AUNT DEE
Delores J. Ingle 65, female. On June 8, 1998 we took my Aunt Dee to the
hospital for chest and back pain. They thought it was her heart. An
angiogram later, they determined it wasn't. Then going to her regular Dr.
and tests being performed for fear of galbladder trouble the tests showed a
spot. A spot that was biopsied. On June 23, 1998 she was diagnosed with
pancreatic cancer. A Whipple was attempted and aborted on July 2, 1998.
The surgeon came down and talked to us about her quality of life and that
there was nothing they could do. She has a tumor encased around the hepatic
artery with mets to the stomach cavity and 2 tumors in her pelvic area.
Radiation July 30, 1998. Five weeks 5x's a week. Chemo T/W/Th of first and
last week of radiation. Duragesic patch 50mg, started last week of Aug. 1998
extreme pain. Aunt Dee was able to get out and go places, and was pain free
until Nov. 3, 1998. On Nov. 3 the pain in her chest returned. We have been
on a downward spiral ever since. The pain has been getting worse, and she
has been dizzy. Which at firs the onocologist said was an inner ear thing,
to this date it has been 3 weeks straight of dizziness. I am not sure what
to think of that now. Aunt Dee is to weak to walk on her own now. She has
on a 100mg duragesic patch now, and is still taking vicadon for break thru
pain, which is still coming. As for me, I am Rhonda, Delores's niece, I am
28 years old. My husband, Dale, and my 2 small children, Khrystyne, 10, and
Jonathan, 9, live with Aunt Dee. We are doing our best to care for her.
Aunt Dee never had children of her own and my Uncle John, her husband, and
her took care of me most of my life because my mother worked. My uncle died
in 1987. He was as close as a father to me. Aunt Dee is as close to me as a
mother. We are taking one day at a time, and just being with Aunt Dee is
what we have left, so we make the most of it. God's grace cover all that
deal with this disease. Rhonda
