JANET'S MOM
My mother has experienced stomach and back pain for awhile, but she had lost
15 pounds in the last 2 months. She is 79.
On August 1 she was admitted for tests to determine cause of pain.
CAT scan and laproscopic biopsy showed a malignancy in the pancreas.
The Whipple procedure was recommended, but upon opening the surgeons
determined that a major vein and lymph node were involved and could not be
removed so he opted to leave other organs in place to minimize her
recovery time. He gave us 3-6 months and said he believed that chemo and
radiation would do no good. I do not know whether to pursue these and other
treatments or take his word for it.
