Thelma: The distance must be frustrating you! I'm not sure about the hospital stay before chemo. But, I do know that it is extremely important to be strong before chemo begins since its toxicity only makes matters worse. Consequently, I think that the reason for the hospital stay (IV feeding) makes sense. Alternatively, one might suggest waiting for the patient to become healthier, but as you know, one doesn't wait with this disease. Just my opinion... Best wishes.
