The G tube is a far better choice than an NG tube...and it does not have to be permanent. While no surgery is simple, typically if that is the only problem...they stay in the hospital only a couple of days...can be fed continuously by pump, or be fed during nite only by pump, or be fed bolus feedings several times per day...according to what his system can tolerate...sounds like you all have had a hard way to go too...my husband just had a mesh steel stent placed today to open up his small intestine right by his stomach...hope all goes well for you...that NG tube is nasty and can cause tissue damage to the nose and throat if left in too long....good luck
