We've got some experience with this. When my Dad was first diagnosed, they'd had to do exploratory surgery and give him a colostomy. The docs had him progress rather rapidly to a liquid, full liquid, soft solid diets within about 2 days. Too fast! He developed a small bowel obstruction and had that awful NG tube and stomach tube drain for several days. He was in the hospital for nearly a month before things started working well, BUT, the docs there didn't try anything surgical - just mineral oils and such. I guess they figured that since he was older (79 at the time) and the tumor was so large, that there was no reason to interviene. Dad is having the same problems now - 9 months later - but this is probably due to met tumors pressing on his colon. Read some posts below for at least the low resistence/low fiber diets and the belching for more info. My Dad was also extremely healthy and very active up until 2 weeks before diagnosis. That is very much in your favor!
