My husband Raymond,age 66 was told on April 28,2000 that CT scan was
suspicious for a malignant tumor, arising by appearance, from the tail of the
pancreas. It was further revealed that the tumor had spread to the left
kidney, spleen, and both lobes of the liver, and regional lymph nodes.
Prognosis, very poor. His symptoms included: weight loss( 30 lbs in 3
months)anorexia,extreme fatigue, anemia( blood count 7.9), hematuria( which
occasioned the CAT scan),and nausea. He continues to experience lack of
appetite and extreme fatigue. He is not in pain. Biospy was done 5-10-00. We
get the results on 5-17-00. We are distressed because the Oncologist has
basically said " Get your affairs in order--because my husband will be
dead in 6 months or less. This was said even prior to the biospy. All the
research I've done appears to support the Onc's conclusion. Yet, we have a
HOPE based on our faith. I'd like to know more about the progression of this
disease--what can one expect with respect to quality of life. Any information
will be greatly appreciated and received with the utmost respect.
