My mom's CA 19-9 dropped from 500 to 300 after 1 infusion of Gemzar & Xeloda. That was her first chemo treatment, she actually started to feel immediately better, her pain diminished by day 4 and stopped taking pain meds. The chemo, unfortunately, was only effective for about 5 months, then her numbers started to rise and we had to switch TX. What caused your dad's duodenum to bleed, ulcers? Also, have to they tested the ascites fluid to determine the cause, if there is cancer, he would be stage 4 at this point. We are facing this right now with my mom. Waiting on cytology report.
