Well, we went over a number of things today with our Dr. Here is what we learned:

Having the cancer in just the lymph nodes is a better prognosis than having it in the actual organs. Though we did not talk about WHAT the prognosis is. At this point I don't feel that is relevant.

Surgery is not an option, of course it all comes back to ''which came first, the chicken or the egg?'' The theory is this, if mets in the organs show up at one point or another, did they come from the original tumor and have just been dormant or did they come from the lymph nodes? It is because the answer of this question is unknown, that the surgery is of course useless (though if you look at the latter part of that question it makes an argument FOR surgery) He felt that the risks of surgery outweigh the benefits of it. So, no go.

We talked about the vaccine trial at JH. He is going to look into it and other trials.

We talked about the second opinion coming up and what questions to ask. Our Dr. is all for a fresh pair of eyes and is interested in what the Dr. says.

We will be doing diagnostic PET scans from now on. The question is whether or not we can do a diagnostic CT on the same day. The CT that is done with the PET is not a high enough resolution to be diagnostic.

At this point we are holding off on chemo until after our second opinion.

Brian still continues to take a lot of his glyconutrients, so hopefully this will help his body to be stronger if/when he needs to go onto chemo again. Who knows, maybe it will have a beneficial response like I have heard has happened to others. He is also starting to see the acupuncturist tomorrow and we are going to make an appointment with a massage therapist for him too! I keep envisioning the Dr. looking at Brian's next scan and going ''Hummph, look at THAT'' It's a good thought.

Hope. Believe. Dream.

Sheryl
