It is scary. We had no idea that my Dad's PC was hereditary, but his mom (my grandmom) died of colon cancer. I had asked my doctor and had been told that PC is rarely hereditary so I didn't worry.

Then in Sept 07 I started having diarreah and got jaundiced. They discovered a blockage in an ERCP procedure. I had a whipple operation and they removed the cancerous tumor. Remember that only 5-15% of PC is hereditary, but even that number is too high for complacency. Be sure to tell your primary care physician about your parent's PC and ask if screening should be done. Peace, Jill
