It's highly possible that she might have had a minor infection somewhere in her body to make the platelets drop. My Dad has multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) and one of the big concerns is the platelets. Her platelet levels should be fine for chemo. Usually, they don't worry too much unless they get under 50,000 and all the other counts are ok. It's when they get down to around 12,000 or below and then platelets are given to raise the level.
