Can anyone give me some information on platelets? For 3 weeks of blood work prior to chemo treatment my mom's range was from 234,000-267,000. She had a celiac block on 12/12. On 12/17 before getting chemo she was at 150,000. On 12/24, before getting her second treatment, she was at 101,000. They didnt think she could get chemo today but surprisingly she was back up to 168,000 this morning. I completely understand that they dropped after chemo. But why did they drop from 267,000 on 12/12 to 150,000 on 12/17? Perhaps the celiac procedure? I dont undertsnad really what makes them go up ad down.......
