Pancreas Cancer Web
DAVE
My husband Dave was dx with pc Dec./97 At age 47, when they attempted
Whipples, but due to the tumor at the head of the pancreas that was wrapped
around the portal vein ,they could not remove the cancer. Then he was offered
Gemcitibine(Gemzer) and then 6 weeks of radiation , which helped reduce the
tumor , but then the search was onto find a Doc to re-operate, Which in
Canada was not easy, But we lucked out and found out about a DR.Norman
Kneateman in Edmonton, Canada. So he did a whipples and took out the cancer,
which had shrunk away from the portal vein . That surgery was done in
Nov./98, and he is doing reasonably well, but does have some problems, but he
is here and for that we are thank-ful.Thanks to John Hopkins for this chat
line.
