Every case is different yet they all have a very similar. we had a great hospice team that kept my mom out of pain but she was also very doped up. The last few days she was very aggetated and calling out "help me, save me" name at first were all alive people then they changed to all family that were already in heaven. It was as if she saw them and they were callin her. We sat and prayed with her around the clock knowing the end was near. The final 3 days she was so medicated she looked as if she was sleeping, could not speak,so weak, we gave her drops of soda, water on spoon just to keep her mouth moist. Her breathing was very slow for 2 days, we watch her chest go up and down, her hands and feet became cold, her body was shutting down. The last day her breathing was very rapid again as if she was gasping for her last breath. The site of the last few weeks has stayed with me for a long time, I still have problems sleeping and concentrating throughout the day. This is so hard to go through, keep you faith, talk to your family stay together and talk to a hospice team. This will help but in the end you have to face the truth. My mom went to heaven on 10/18/99 and I still can't believe she is gone.If you need a friend you can email direct cause I would be happy to help anyone out going through this. It is a comfort knowing you can help someone else out.
