My mom's hospice nurse did not test anything. If a patient has ascites, this can lead to a situation where it can feel hard to catch your breath. And if you can't catch your breath you can get anxious and upset. My mother had no physical reason for oxygen per se, but it definitely helped. She said it increased her energy. It definitely improved her mood/anxiety. Anything that adds to quality of life seems good to me. Claudia
