Quick recap: Whipple 5/04 - 50 lb. (much needed) weight loss - Lipram 4500 taken consistently (3 - 4 SPACED throughout all meals)ever since. He neither gains nor looses (5 lbs. either way - that all). Appetite - at times he's a 'bottomless pit' - similar to other Whipple patients. No reoccurrance of the cancer (very lucky man!)

This past June he had to change enzymes due to manufacturing and insurance issues. His PCP (who I trust completely with all PC issues) researched, and decided on Creon. With different brands - dosages can be different - he was told to take only l or 2 Creon.

He started the Creon about 2 weeks ago. No major changes in how he feels (occassional cramp, which has been normal since surgery). However, he told me last night that he has dropped weight, and is a bit concerned with this. Not sure offhand how much, but more then the usual 5 lbs.

Now a 10 or 15 lb. drop will not exactly be a MAJOR issue as he is still overweight, BUT anything more....and this will be a concern for me...

Now he does work outside in the somewhat intense heat (heat doesn't bother him). He also sweats a good bit.......so maybe this weight drop is just 'normal'. Or maybe this is not the enzyme for him. I guess it will be best to wait a few more weeks to see if there are any MAJOR weight changes. If there are - he will have to switch again.

Last CA19-9 in June was 17. Follow up CT Scan was a few weeks ago. We haven't heard (not unusual). Charlie hasn't called yet for results (not unusual either). I have no major desire to call for the results, either (I get much too stressed waiting for the return call!). I truly believe all is still stable.

That's our update. Hopefully the weight situation will level out in a few more weeks. If not - off to a gastro dr.

Good thoughts and prayers to all,

Pat
