There are many things that can cause the CA 19-9 to rise and fall, inflammation for one. This is why they do not use it as a stand alone diagnostic test. She should have a CT scan if she hasn't already. Our oncologist does not feel that a PET is reliable for PC, not that it isn't done, but he doesn't do them. As for her age, my husband was 38 when he was diagnosed (it has been 18 months and he is doing great). You should also call PanCAN, they can give you a lot of information. Their number is 877-272-6226. I certainly hope her issues are being caused by something else, but it is better to follow up sooner rather than later.

Good luck!

Hope. Believe. Dream.
