some hospice programs have their oxygen co. bring both an oxygen concentrator and either a small portable o2 tank or a large o2 tank. Just so you can see the differences I'll post any site I find showing the different kinds. The small portable oxygen tanks don't have enough oxygen to last but only a short time (a few hrs) and some pts don't find the oxygen concentrator always help. I had pts who did think they help but they weren't very dependent on the o2. Just letting you know so if he doesn't find the oxygen concentrator is helpful and they bring a small portable you can ask right away for a larger tank.
