I read your post above - yes you need to take care of you. my mother in law had the surgery for that same thing. They went in at her neck and she is to have another surgery that they go in down at the base of her back - but she will not have it.

I would make sure you research any surgery and make sure they go over in detail recovery time. My mother in law had to where a full neck thing (not even take off to wash hair) for 4 months after the surgery - she never complained, but I just could not imagine how uncomfortable that had to be. At first, she thought the surgery helped her as the leg pain was gone and she seemed to have more strength - but now she is having leg pain again - it might be because she refused to have the 2nd surgery - but she is 76 y/o and I don't blame her one bit.
