It would depend on what his marker was prior to surgery. You need to get copies of the last three or four CA 19's and compare them. If he was at 30 after surgery - then this new number is much higher and needs to be monitered really really close. Maybe a 2nd opinion by a top PC treatment institution - where do you live?

Seeing that the PET/CT didnt indicate anything is good, but I would want a follow up in 3 weeks - not months. If the cancer has returned, your dad may need to get back on chemo and kick that sucker back for good. Personally I would want to be on chemo now, right now. And then I would want another CT and CA 19 done after the first round of chemo to see if those numbers go down. Thats just me, what I would want, but I am not a doctor. And I would want Gemzar and Taxotere.

Love MG
