Night sweats have been mentioned on many cancer boards then liver mets and eventually ascites shows up. I was never sure if it was low level ascites that wasn't detected yet or the liver mets. For my loved one the liver mets were there from dx but the drenching night sweats started around the time fluid in his body started to come, his legs then scrotum then belly. Some get a low fever and shakes with it(rigors) and from what I have seen here it was when bile ducts in the liver where infected or blocked with tumors. There may be different reasons for the sweats. Mine had it day and night for a while. We had to wrap a towel around his head to keep from soaking his pillow. It can come from medications too, morphine can cause sweating or how the body responds to it.
