I talked to my mom this morning and she's going to call the clinic and ask about having it flushed. At the moment, they are monitoring her because of some fluid around her lungs (they say side-effect of the Gemzar) so she'll have another CT scan in a couple of weeks. It's possible she'll have another one a few weeks after that. I think for the time being, she might keep the port just to get through these scans and then see about getting rid of it. I'm just not wanting her to think the oncologist wants her to keep it because he anticipates more chemo later. I know the reality, but after the fluid scare (where they were obligated to tell her it COULD be cancer related, even though they firmly believe it isn't) I think she could use a boost in the confidence dept. I'm going to try to go to her next oncology appt and see if I can lead some conversation on the subject.

I appreciate all the input, as always!
