My husband had Whipple(3/04) followed by chemo/radiation. After the 4th or 5th chemo he needed a port because his veins were shot. After chemo the Oncologist wanted it to stay in 'just in case' he needed it again. It was great for labs and like the other poster we had to have it flushed once amonth. After 2 yrs they removed it under anesthesia at the hospital by a intervential radiologist. Going on 3 yrs and is still cancer free.
