Hi Kim, I work as a PT for a VNA. Someone like your Dad might benefit from home PT (should be covered by his health insurance).

With someone like your Dad, as a PT I would teach him a home ex. program and give him written copy of ex. to follow thru with, I would assess him to see if a walker (either with or without wheels) might help him walk with a bit more support and confidence. As he improved, I would advance his exercises and work on stairs, walking to mailbox, etc.

Perhaps his doctor would be willing to order a home PT eval? Just a thought....

Best to you all! Jill
