You didn't say how old your dad is, I think that may have something to do with how quick he recovers. It is a slow recovery. My husband was 60 when he had his whipple a year ago. He has always been active, and he made himself walk quite a bit. At first just to the mail box and back, and adding more every day. He was back to work full time within 4 months, even while on chemo. But, he would come home from work and take a nap, eat dinner, then maybe back to bed. He is just now, a year later, back pretty much to his normal self. I also think family support is important, so hang in there!
