Aloha. Is the chemo drug your friend is on called Gemzar (also called Gemcitabine)? If so, it is supposed to make patients feel better and a percentage of patients actually achieve remission, I'm told. Then there are other patients who experience side-effects too severe to continue with the drug. If you have doubts about the decisions being made by your friend, and the quality of the information she's using to make those decisions, I would encourge her to get another opinion from another oncologist.
