Wow. My husband and I spent the whole evening sitting here crying quietly and talking about my dad. We had the TV on low. Then Jimmy Carter came on NBC!!! I couldn't believe it!! Its ironic, but I have a Jimmy Carter story that relates to my Dad. My Dad owned a software company and a few years back he got a call on his technical support line by someone who needed help. He identified himself as "Jimmy Carter" (it was obvious it was the President), and he was using my Dad's program to help them set up the Habitats by Humanities project. He was just a regular guy doing regular stuff, helping people out. He seems to be such a reachable guy, that I thought maybe I'd try to give him a call and tell him about my Dad and thank him personally for doing the commercial. It was wonderful to see the commercial. More people who know will be able to recognize early symptoms. More people who know will be able to contribute bucks to help research and find an early detection test. And for those of us left behind who are relatives, and have an extremely high risk of getting the disease, this is a wonderful thing.
