The problem with PC is that there is not a good cure and early diagnosis is usually not possible. By the time people have symptoms and anything shows up on an ERCP, EUS, or CAT scan, the cancer has usually spread. So, what are you going to tell people? What's the message? The real message is to support research that will lead to either early diagnosis or a cure or longer life. But that's the message. We don't have a useful message for the average person yet. It's a difficult situation. What is Steve Jobs to say? 'Thank God I had the rare, non-lethal form of PC?' I am not against trying to raise awareness about PC. I am only pointing out WHY this cancer is underfunded. This is a very, very tricky cancer. One of the only good things about this cancer is that because adenocarcinoma is so lethal, our patients are among the first to be used for a new chemo or new other kind of therapy. We are the guinea pigs, and that's good in a way because every time something new comes along, it is offered quickly in trials to PC patients.
