Hi Kathy,

You came to a great place to exchange ideas and to recieve support.

Did your dad have a whipple? My husband was dx. PC with mets to liver in April and they aborted the whipple.

The first round of tx was with Gemzar and Tarceva which was ineffective. In mid June his tx. was changed to Oxyilaplatin every 21 days and Xeloda 14 days on 7 days off.

The oxy/xeloda is much easier for him to tolerate than 1st tx. His CA-19 9 dropped about 50 points since change of tx. Fatigue continues to be a big issue. He has been able to start eating again.

There are many differnt chemo combos they can give. Don't get discouraged if the first choice doesn't work.

This is probably overwhelming for your whole family. It gets to be a real bummer when everything has to revolve around this stinking cancer. We've been able to do a few things that 'PC' wasnt't the focus and realized in hindsight how helpful it was to escape if only for a few hrs.

Will be thinking of you in the days ahead.
