Mary, my dad had 2 treatments of GemOx followed by 33 treatments of radiation
& 5fu followed by 2 more treatments of GemOx. His #'s went from 900's down to
the 50's. ( they were trying to shrink tumor, which was successful and dad
had whipple June '05) For his adjuvent therapy he had 10 treatments of GemOx
but had a reaction to the Oxy and finished the 2 treatments with just Gem. He
did very well on the combo. There were times when he did get nauses and
vomit, but even with that, he gained 15 lbs during his treatment. He did have
the cold sensitivity that they say may come along with it.
Everyone responds differently, but overall dad responded well. We unfortuntly
are now dealing with rising #'s and dad had his ct on Wed and we see the
Oncologist on Fri. Dr said even if scan reads stable which they have been, we
will start to treat the #'s. Got the results on Mon that the #'s rose again,
so pretty sure we will start chemo VERY soon. I'm realy curious to find out
what 'cocktail' he will put dad on. I have to say he has been very aggressive
with dad so far.
Much luck on this next fight, stay positive and keep the hope!! I keep
thinking of Bill from TX and Shawnee, they both had reoccrence and are doing
