My dad's Gemzar is every other week for 1/2 hour, followed my a shot of Aranesp. (I guess it is like Procrit only it will last for the two weeks between treatments, as I understand it). The shot is given in relation to the hemoglobin levels which remain just below 12. In the beginning, they tried every week, but it was too much. His tumor markers are now in the single digits. They started at 600. The tumor was in the head of the pancreas and blocked the bile duct so we knew earlier than often happens. Gemzar does not make him sick. He has been on it for more than a year. It followed 25 radiation treatments and Xeloda. The Gemzar dose with two weeks in between is doing the job.
