unfortunately it is most often the case that CTs don't show spread, especially peritoneal spread. This is due to the abdominal fatty layer. This is why I always say get the CA 125 taken as well. It is a good indicator whether or not the neoplasms have spread there.

As for the swelling in the legs, I wouldn't use Lasix. If a diuretic is used which is doubtful that it helps at all, I would use Aldactone because it is potassium sparing, what Lasix isn't and if he has ascites drained he is loosing a lot of it. Matter-of-fact all electrolytes should be monitored closely and replaced asap.

Besides elevating the legs, cool compresses with vinegar bring immediate relief -- not for long, but at least for a little while.
