I just went through the whole process on the SS site. I am working because I have to work to support myself therefore I am not disabled. This is what it says:

Social Security's definition of disability is based on your inability to work. Usually, if you are working and earning above a certain amount you are not considered 'disabled' and, therefore, you cannot get any type of disability benefit.
