My dad was seen at Johns Hopkins and he is stg IV with a few very small liver mets. The surgeon there wanted to do 6-8 weeks of chemo and then 'restage' the cancer. If the liver mets responded to the chemo, he said he would do the Whipple. My husband is a surgeon and said this was a VERY aggressive approach and that it is likely because my Dad is 'young' and otherwise very healthy. My dad is doing great with the chemo so far. Tumor markers have dropped from 60 to 18 after a month of Gem/Tarceva. He will have a CT in a few weeks and we will go from there. praying for all of us. cathy
