Karen, please don't feel guilty for your feelings of emptiness and devastation. There is no other way you could feel after such a diagnosis. We've all been there, sometimes more than once. And you're right to hate the statistics. Your father is not a statistic. There have been many who've proved the lie to the statistics and there's no reason not to hope for your father to be one of them. When my wife was diagnosed, I too turned to books. There's a lot out there; but here's a few I found helpful: Beyond Miracles: Living with Cancer by Stephen Hersh; Cancer as a Turning Point by Lawrence LeShan; and Choices in Healing by Michael Lerner. Unfortunately, I didn't lock into this board until much later -- it's great and the very best for pancreatic specifically. I pray that you and your Father and Mother and the rest of your family will find what you need to maintain your hope. Hope is really out there. I feel for you, james.
