Paula,Just stopped by and wanted to respond. Yes you are in the right place and you are doing well by looking for information though places like this that have alot of information. I personally don't think there are any real answers to your situation. Everyone is unique. I can tell you a bit about my history. In early July 98, my mother came to me from another state because she was ill and since I'm in the medical field, thought her little girl could fix whatever it was. 3 weeks later my daughter turned 17yr. We cared for mom in my small 2 bdrm apartment untill the end. She wasn't diagnosed until mid October and by then she decided she wanted no treatments and told the Dr. to just keep her comfortable and painless. Well, alot can be said for pain less. From what I've read and seen with mom, this is a very painful disease. Because my daughter was young and still in her last year of school (graduated early in Nov as a gift to her grandmother), mom and I decided just what we would allow her to do and help with. She made sure mom got lunch everyday, and would bring home milkshakes sometimes from her job at McDonalds. It didn't matter that mom only had a few sips. ( the appitite and tast buds quit working most of the time). There were somethings that I would not allow my daughter to be exposed to. For one was cleaning up after body fluids. I needed for her and my mother to keep that distance between them and the generation gap and modisty were definatly evident. Anyway... There is a support board on aol for children as well. You might want to get in there and ask around. Maybe there are some kids that can give you some words of wisdom through their eyes. And so,... I've rambled on. I will keep you in my thoughts and feel free to forward to me anytime. ChrisAnn
