We have just learned (3 months after initial diagnosis), that Docs believe my father's cancer originates in his duodeum - rather than his pancreas. They say that it appeared that way in the beginning, but because duodenal cancer is so incredibly rare they simply did not believe what they saw. They tell us this makes no difference to prognosis (less than a year), treatment (gemciatbine), staging (4B), symptoms, etc. The original tumor lies against the pancreas - and he has mets to the liver (3 lesions). Has anyone had a similar situation? Does anyone know of differing medical opinion regarding this? He (as you can see from previous posts and bio) is very ill - losing weight at a freightening clip, weak and in (pretty much) constant pain. Thanks ya'll!
