There are so many of us out here that are or have experienced what your friend is going through. If he doesn't want more treatment, the best thing he can do is increase his caloric intake and take vitamins to help him maintain his strength and nutrition. If your friend doesn't feel like eating solid food, he can get high calorie Ensure-type drinks. Also milkshakes made with protein powder, yogurt, and whatever else he likes will help. Your friend, as well as those close to him, have a long, hard road ahead. I encourage you to keep posting for answers and support. This journey has many unexpected, unpleasant twists and turns that take great strength on the part of the caregivers. In all of this, some really wonderful moments exist. Take time to talk with and listen to your friend. You'll be surprised at how much you'll learn about him and you. I wish you both the best under these circumstances. Pam K
