I'm a woman, at age 49, was diagnosed with a MCN mucinous cystic
neoplasm on the body and tail of my pancreas via a EUS-FNA done at UCLA in
January, 2006.
Advised to have it out within 2 weeks to 2 months. They performed a distal panc./splen. in March, 2006, and found it had not spread or metatsized. However, had a difficult recovery due to vacine given day before surgery causing flu like symptoms after surgery for days and two weeks later had a pleural effusion and pneumonia and rehospitalized for another week. I have short stamina of 6 hrs daily, tire easily. It was a very difficult surgery for me.
I'm grateful to the wonderful physicians at UCLA who basically saved my
life. I'll be monitored for recurrence every 6 months and hopefull never
have to fight the battle most of you are fighting.,I'm very interested in
research, all areas, but not particulary with MCNs.
