Pancreas Cancer Web
ELIZABETH
My father was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in May of 1998. He
received a Whipple in June of that year and went through many types of
radiation and chemotherapy. In September of 1999, he became extremely
sick and I withdrew from my sophomore year in college at James Madison
University to go home and be with him. My large family spent his last
month on this earth holding his hand, in the room with him the entire
time. My father was a wonderful man, and it was so difficult to see him
go through such a horrible experience. I was born in 1980, so at the
time I was only 19 years old, which made it even harder. My father
died at the age of 60 on October 28, 1999 in our home in Alexandria,
Virginia.
