Hi Shari, My mom was dx with PC on July 6 and had a complete Whipple on July 16. She is home now in recovery she lives in NJ and I am in Washington. Far Away. Glad you have siblings for support I don't. I am planning to see her this next week for 10 days and then will return when she has radiation. I learned alot about PC from this board and also from National Cancer Institute. Read about the disease but don't get stuck on the stats. My mom is Stage 2 for whatever that means - the stages go to 5 so your mom being Stage 1 means she has had intervention against the cnacer before it was very advanced. The social worker from my mom's hosptial explained she has "a favorable outcome with caution for recurrance" probably true for your mom as well - actually true for anyone who has had the cancer removed. The recovery may be long and slow but that's ok too. Get info and support from this site and see if your mom has a social worker assigned to her care or not. they can answer questions when doctors often don't take time. Good luck keep us posted we'll keep you in our prayers.Scotty
