I can not help you much more than you have already been helped. I can not tell you how people die of this disease simply because each person is different. It depends on past medical history, complications, etc. Yes, most patients do lose some weight with this disease because they do not want to eat - or simply can not eat. You and your sisters need to make a decision that all of you are comfortable with. And what about your mother? Although the doctor feels that she can not make decisions, what do you think? You can always ask her to see how she responds. You would know her better than her oncologist. If she truly can not be of any help, then you must keep your mother's best interest in mind. This is a very hard decision. Good luck to you. - Heather
