I too lost my dad to pancreatic cancer on June 25, 1999. Was Diagnosed in April. Had whipple procedure. Surgery went well...so we were told. Died 9 days post op of sepsis(infection) which weakened his heart. He too died on a respirator. We never got to talk to him after the surgery.I dont thinkhe was in pain and I think he knew his 4 children were at his bedside when he passed on. My mom died 7 mos ago of breast cancer and he missed her so. I dont think he had the fight in him. BUt he is with his beloved wife and I miss them both so much. I had to make the decision to make him a "no code". I am also an ICU nurse so that was even more difficult. Tried to be strong for my siblings but we were all there in the end which made it somewhat easier. He too was a great man. Take comfort in knowing he is in heaven and is at peace without pain. God bless you... Rose
