Everyone is different. Some people die because it is too late. Some die because they give up hope. Some are told that they are terminal, but decide to fight and live for years. It's up to the patient to decide.

As for me, I would fight. Get a second opinion from a cancer center that HAS PEOPLE WHO SPECIALIZE IN PC. If you don't have enough money, check with PANCAN on the web or by phone to see if there is help.

Although as not well known as M. D. Anderson and Hopkins, Northwestern Memorial Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center has a couple of dynamite pancreatic cancer surgeons who do whipples with vein resections, AND they also recommend chemo/radiation for some patients to shrink their tumors away from the artery so the patient can become resectable.

Don't give up. I was most impressed by a pc cancer survivor (5 years ago) who had a whipple and was so sick afterwards, that she didn't even know who took care of her young children while she was going through treatment. She made it through with the help of family and neighbors and is now a big supporter of PANCAN.
