I would go with my gut feeling and ask also your mom how she feels about it. Also have her sugar checked. My husband had ketoacidoses after the third Gemzar IV and was very week, lost weight and since he needs insulin.

So, he really tolerated the Gemzar, but became insulin dependend. After we now controlling the sugar on top of electrolytes, vitamin-uptake and what have you, he gained weight back and is doing a heck of a lot better.

He will continue chemo after the press conferences he holds in Berlin March 9, but always under the premise, if the treatment takes away too much quality of life, he will stop and got my blessing for whatever he decides and I will support and comfort him and we will manage any pain as it may arise.

Good luck, Lis
