My daddy was diagnosed 02/04/04. He was to have 7 gemzar treatments - one a week - and then have a scan. He was able to have 5 treatments but never one a week. They wore him out and he had to deal with blood clots and low blood counts and transfusions and procrit and 2 lengthly hospital stays in between all of that. He had just turned 62 when he was diagnosed. He had his last chemo treatment on April 9, 2004 - my 39th birthday. They did a scan after this treatment and the tumors had grown, the cancer had spread and he had no quality of life. He came home under hospice care and died May 18, 2004. Is it worth it? For him the answer is NO. He was with us longer maybe but he had no quality of life and he suffered so much.

Sorry that you and your family are in this position. You are among friends here and we all understand what is running through your mind. We are here for you.
