Sometimes, maybe not. My husband Mick, dx 4/19/05 unresectable stage IV pc, extensive artery & vein encasement. He tried radiation & 5FU, then switched to Gemzar/Tarceva. During the 5 months, he was so sick that I honestly thought he was dying and he thought so too. He was to weak to even walk. After surviving all the side effects they found that the tumor was continuing to grow. He discontinued treatment and started feeling so much better. At this date he is still doing pretty well. No nausea or vomiting and pain is completely under control with only 2 pills a day. Everybody is different so we really don't know what to do.
