Well the news wasn't as good as we had hoped, the onc feels Matt has recurred, bases this on 2 things: his CA19-9 has more than doubled in 4 weeks to >1200 and his stomach isn't emptying. Dilitation was not possible today, the EGD showed alot of edema and inflammation; our onc feels this is a little late to be from radiation (completed the end of Feb) Even though not visible on CT, he feels recurrence at the primary site is just the logical answer and as much as we don't want to believe this is happening again, we know we have to deal with it............and we will!!! We are looking into RSF2000 while the next plan is to insert a J tube surgically so he can get some nutrition while bypassing and resting the stomach. We are very hopeful this will be temporary and that it won't be long before he can eat again. He can have clear liquids but even those pass very slowly and can make him miserable and "full". His onc won't consider chemo unless we can get him nutritionally sound. we see our surgeon tomorrow and hope to get the tube place ASAP. thanks for your reply! With love and tons of hope, Matt and Lori
